This Week in the Chaos: Markets, Mother’s Day & Mental Mayhem

Well, what a week it’s been.

After the mud-soaked madness of Tocal Field Days (still finding bits of stall straw in my boots), it was such a relief to return to my regular happy place—the beautiful De Bortoli Markets on Saturday. Good vibes, and the familiar faces of our amazing community was exactly the reset I needed.

The rest of the week? Let’s just say it’s been a bit of a blur of work, website tweaks, and family mayhem. Mother’s Day kicked off with a sweet school breakfast with my youngest, and ended with me in my PJs, alternating between napping, snacking, and trying to wrangle our new website into shape. Spoiler alert: it’s taking longer than expected, and yes, I’m quietly losing my mind. But it’s going to be so worth it when it’s finally done!

On the rescue front, it’s been one of those weeks that hits heavy. One of our dogs—who's been through more than any soul should have to endure—is now looking at intensive training to help him heal from his trauma. Whether it will be enough, we just don’t know yet. These are the hard decisions that keep us up at night.

The surrender rate of companion animals is still at a heartbreaking high, and with rescues across the board bursting at the seams, we’re having to say “no” far more than we ever want to. It goes against every fibre of who we are. But until we build that bigger shelter, we’re maxed out—and that reality stings.

So here we are. A week of muddy boots, roast dinners, tough decisions, and endless to-do lists—but also a week full of love, laughter, and purpose.

Thanks for being part of the journey—messy bits and all.

Until next time,
